| Bridge Day, West Virginia's
largest one-day festival, celebrated on the third Saturday in October,
commemorates the October 1977 completion
of the New River Gorge Bridge. This year's Bridge Day Festival
will be observed on October 20th. |

When Bridge Day arrives, more than 200,000
people converge over the course of the day to take part the day-long festival.
BASE jumpers parachute 876-feet into the New River Gorge below. Rapellers
descend on ropes like caterpillars beneath the mighty bridge. More than
200 vendors provide delicious foods and fantastic entertainment!
Celebrate the festivities of outrageous fall
colors and spectacular rafting on two rivers. Plan on the Lower
New River Class V whitewater on Saturday, October 18, 2008, Bridge Day. Experience
the thrill of viewing BASE jumpers as they plummet off the New River
Gorge Bridge from a river view that is totally unique. Chow down
on a fabulous cookout that night and an evening of Live
Music in the lounge. Brace
up for the last day of Gauley River season the next day.
